Arizona Mills Mall is right off the I-10 and baseline. It is the biggest mall in Arizona. It's really nice. Big IMAX theater and Game Works (huge arcade) and it has some really good stores too.

Scottsdale Fashion Square (east valley), Arrowhead Mall (northwest valley) and Desert Ridge Mall (northeast valley) are very nice too. Metro Center mall is VERY ghetto now. I've read in the paper once that it is the number one place to get your car stolen in AZ, so definitely stay away from there if you can help it.

Scottsdale and the Tempe area are great places to eat. There are a lot of locally owned restaurants with great food. You might want to try Mill Avenue. It's right next to ASU and has a lot of little shops and restaurants.

Also, I prefer bottled water, but the tap won't kill you. My fiance drinks the tap here all the time and he hasn't died yet!

Have fun!

Chandler Fashion Center is the closest mall that is decent. Scottsdale Fashion Square is a long drive from anywhere on Baseline, and it is a more upscale mall. Arizona Mills mall on Baseline and I-10 originally was an outlet mall, but now it is about half outlets, half regular stores.

At the Hilton Pointe South Mountain resort (Baseline west of I-10), there is a fun cowboy-style restaurant called Rustler's Rooste. Go there at sunset for a nice view of the valley. Further west on Baseline you can find the entrance to South Mountain Park. You can drive up to a lookout point or go horseback riding in the park.

There's nothing wrong with the Phoenix tap water except it is hard water and so you taste more minerals in it. It is perfectly safe to drink.

I drink the tap water all the time. But I'm also a freak :)

AZ Mills is nice. But it's like any mall anywhere. Chandler & Scottsdale Malls are more upscale, in that order.

Casey Moore's on 9th and Ash in downtown Tempe is great. They have the bar area, which is a great place to hang out, and then they have an upsairs area that is more elegant, intimate, and expensive. Great food either way.

Coffee Talk in Mesa, off of Main & Robson (just E of Country Club) is really cool.

Downtown Scottsdale has tons of places to go. You can just walk from bar to bar. If you're into that sort of thing.

I've heard about this place on Lakeshore just S of Baseline with live music. Don't know about it though.

Arizona Mills Mall on Baseline and Interstate 10 is, well, HUGE! and it has a lot of outlets and some pretty good restaurants (Claim Jumper, Rainforest Cafe). If you go up Mill Avenue about 3 miles north of Baseline in Tempe (and right past Arizona State University) there are a ton of restaurants and bars on Mill just north of University Dr. There is some shopping in that area too. The area has a good mix of business and student crowds and tends to attract tourists as well.

The water...a lot of places have filtration systems installed, but it is better to drink bottled. The water won't make you sick...it just tastes nasty.

I've also heard that the malls in Phoenix are awesome! I drank the water but as mentioned before you'll likley prefer bottled water but it is safe however. The four best malls in Phoenix are:

Desert Ridge Marketplace

Metrocenter Mall

Paradise Valley Mall

Phoenix Spectrum Mall

The water from the tap is excellent..I use it all
time..I put a big bottle in the frig, and the cold water is very good..Never buy bottle water..
A lot of places, and malls, a lot to do here in the greater Phoenix area..Lived here now close to thirty years...You will like it very much..More than enough places to eat..

Okay I can tell you alot about Phoenix!!!! There are alot of malls out that way that would be great for shopping. Lets start up in Scottsdale where you can go to the Borgata which is a nice shopping center. Plus all along Scottsdale Road just north of ASU are great places to shop...especially through downtown!!! Then in the North Phoenix there is the Metro Mall!! I dont remember what street it is on, but I know its west of I-17. Then over in Tempe is Arizona Mills Mall which I have never been to but hope to when I move out there next year. In Mesa there is a nice mall called "Fiesta Mall' off of the Superstition Freeway and Alma School Road.

Now, places to eat!! In Phoenix off the 10 and Baseline is the Pointe Resort!! If you follow the signs through the resort up to the top of the hill is the Rustlers Rooste Restaurant. Its kind of pricy, but its a really neat place to go!! When you come up to the front door of the restaurant, there is a bull outside in the pen!!! Then when you go into the restaurant you will notice the slide they have going down into the dining room!!! Make sure you ask for a window seat so you can look out at the valley and city below!!! Its my favorite place to eat in all of Phoenix!!! Out in Mesa across from the Fiesta Mall is The American Bar and Grill on the ground floor of the Bank of America Building!!! On Alma School Road just south of the Superstition Freeway is the Islands Restaurant and thats another fun restaurant to try. You just have to look around and see what you find.

Places to visit: I would start by going north up to Sedona to see the Oak Creek Canyon area and enjoy the beautiful scenery!! Then I would take the Jeep tour into the back country!!! In Prescott which is 2 hours north of Phoenix there are several museums to wallk through. In Phoenix, you have the museums in downtown Phoenix...the Capital Building, the Arizona Science Center and several others. Then in North Phoenix is the Phoenix Botanical Gardens and the Phoenix Zoo. There is so much to do and see in the Phoenix, Arizona area!!!!!!!!!! Plus in Scottsdale along Scottsdale Road in downtown Scottsdale is a whole shopping area which would be nice to walk through!!! Also in Scottsdale is the Borgata Shopping Center and that is really pretty to walk through!!!!!!!!!!

So, have fun and enjoy Arizona!!!!!!! I cant wait to move out there next year!!!!!!!

I would second the Chandler Fashion Mall vote. It's what's called a day mall. It has everything you can imagine and you can spend the entire day there.
The water isn't bad for you it just doesn't taste as good as bottled.

Baseline is a very very long street. Baseline and what?

You can drink the water, but it has lots of minerals. bottled water is always the best idea. forget about purifiers though.
