"We've heard a great deal about Republican "fat cats," and how the Republicans are the party of big contributions. I've never been able to understand why a Republican contributor is a "fat cat" and a Democratic contributor of the same amount of money is a "public-spirited philanthropist."
Ronald Reagan

There have been three truly great Presidents to define the US where it is now. Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan. It's too soon to say that Reagan was the greatest ever, because history has a funny way of changing people's perspectives.

So I'll say Teddy R for now and see what happens to Ronnie in another 20 years.

Reagan was the greatest what?

Pres. Reagan was asleep at the wheel & his administration was the beginning of the end of democracy in the USA. Unfortunately hateful autocrats on both sides of the aisles have taken center stage ever since.

Sadly we now know he was probably in the early stages of Alzheimer's dementia - a sad way for anybody to go.

Ronald Reagan? The actor?. Than who's vice-president, Jerry Lewis? I suppose Jane Wyman is the First Lady? And Jack Benny, Secretary of the Interior! (Doc Brown in 1955).

I wouldn't say the "greatest ever," but there's no question his optimism and steady leadership guided us out of the "national malaise" that our previous president, Jimmy Carter, described.
Though the first couple years of Reagan's tenure were really shaky, the economy went on to boom like never before in history.

To anyone who considers him "the most corrupt ever", I ask why. Because of Iran-Contra? Who got rich off that? Not him, or anyone in his administration. It was all done in an effort to free American hostages. And he's evil for that?

He dramatically increased funding for AIDS research, and he consistently chose to fund social programs as well as defense, which is what accounted for our deficits. If he'd cut social programs, liberals would've screamed even louder than they already do about his legacy, and if he'd cut defense, the Soviet Union would still be oppressing millions of people.

Great, yes. Greatest ... sorry, not sure about that one yet.

As a liberal, I will gove you that Reagan was not totally bad. He did have some very good points but he was not the greatest by any stretch of the imagination.

He was the Greatest of the Twentieth Century.
He stopped the Cold War from becoming the Last War.

Everything else is secondary.
