It's one of the few movies/books my husband and I have in common. We both are avid book readers and I'm the movie junkie.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" is one of those stories that allows you to see history. Harper Lee managed to tap into the hatrid and bigotry that Americans feel for things they don't know or understand. The themes presented remain timeless. Even today, only now instead of the African-American's, it would be Muslims.

Lee also managed to touch on the innocence of youth. By making the heroine Scout, we got to see the world through a tomboy who was just beginning to see the world as something bigger than her little street. Racism, bigotry, hatrid and fear are the most common elements. You'll see that Scout fears Boo on the local level, while the townsfolk fear the "black man" on a city level.

Everytime I return to the story (I've read it 4-5 times and seen the movie probably a dozen), I find something new. Some new point I hadn't caught before. Reading it as a young girl, I was caught up in the world of Scout. Re-reading it as a young woman, I was caught up in the horrid details of the trial.

That reminds me, it may be time to dust it off again, and see what my 30's will add to the story.

In otherwords, I recommend it highly. Easy to read and the movie (Gregory Peck is wonderful) actually matches the book without ruining it. Doesn't happen today, does it?

To Kill A Mocking Bird is one of my all time favorite books. It's amazing. It teaches about the evils of bigotry in a time when it was acceptable. It is a beautiful story.

Loved it. Fighting injustice and acceptance of people who aren't always the same as everyone else.

No Cons just a wonderful read.
