The egg came first. From evolution, in the ocean from microbes, next came the fish, then amphibians, then reptiles. The reptiles were the first to lay eggs with a HARD shell (to protect the embryo from the land environment).
Birds evolved from reptiles. If you look at the feet/legs of a chicken, you will be reminded of reptilan scales/skin. This is the residual evolutionary clue. And so, the egg DEFINITELY came first; then the chicken, followed by "why did the chicken cross the road" jokes

I say the egg, just because the chicken didn't appear, the egg was first and the chicken came from it like evolving. What came first the seed or the tree, the seed of course

Well if you follow the theory of evolution many creatures which came long before the chicken laid eggs. The egg was more than likely first.
