There's no any other option beside accepting a loss & move on in life, I think. What's lost's loss once incurred & nothing can B done thereafter, though the memory lingers in mind for a well long time.

You know what...it all depends on how important that loss was to me. For example, there have been a few people in my life who have passed away. Now, the ones who had an infuence in my life and made a distint impact are always remembered for years. The others are frequently thought about....but it's not the same.

I like to think of myself as a forgiving person, however, I can really hold a grudge. if something really bad happens, it takes me a long time to move past it.

For example, the loss of my grandfather is still hard for me to deal with, and I find when I think about it, I am still upset, and I still cry. I cannot let go. I try, but I just cannot let go.

If someone hurts me, I cannot move past it even though I try, I can tend to be bitter about it for years. I have people that I haven't talked to in years because they hurt me so badly.

Personally, I can accept the loss, but still over a year later, I still have moments when it hits me hard. I think those might be with me forever, and I really wouldn't want to forget totally.

Depends on what the loss is.
Is it a family member? B/c I've lost my father when I was 13 and still haven't gotten over that.
Is is a b/f? Lost many of those, and you bet your a** I got over those....(some easier than others)
Is it a possession? Lost those too. And I've moved on.
So...I guess it just depends.

I let things linger for a little while, but not too long.
