i am writing a paper for school and would like to know the legalitys on the situation

It is legal to cut off own arm or other limbs to save own life, if the situation so demands.
It is unlawful to cut off own arm or other limbs , and a capable public prosecutor can easily argue it as "attempt to take away own life" !

Oh, I don't think it's illegal, just real stupid, unless you are doing it to save your life, like if an arm or leg were stuck under something, like a fallen tree or building. Then cutting your limb off makes sense.

Are you sure that it's illegal to commit suicide? I'm not too certain of that statement being fact... Doubt if it's illegal to cut off any limbs, just stupid!!!

well it depends, it is ILLEGAL to attempt suicide, so they might look at it like you were trying to make yourself bleed to death. But, like the guy who was stuck in that mountain and cut his arm off things like that are ok, i think it really depends on the matter at hand. If your doin it just for the hell of it, youll have to get medical attention if you dont want to bleed or get infected to death. So, they would have the right to lock you up in a psych ward for awhile.

No it isn't illegal, but you have to understand you can only cut off one arm.
