If I want my family to see me via web cam, how do I do this? Do I need to have a website that they can go to?

You don't need a website. You can use Yahoo messenger available at http://messenger.yahoo.com. Download it, install it and log in with your yahoo id. The person who you want to communicate with should also have Yahoo Messenger and they need to be logged on.
