We are talking elections our corrupt political system! I doubt we have ever had democracy at the polls, cause the public has no form of verification or a check & balence inplace to insure honesty.

There is a way to make it honest leave the polls with a duplicate Post the orginal casted ballot on the county website for ALL TO SEE! allow outside public organization to verify or recount if needed! This confidential secret formality has to go, this just reinforces the ability to cheat & continue in getting away with it!

You don't have any, but in reality, you didn't have any before either.

Perhaps it would be a better system if we held the elections like the World Series. We have an election once a week for seven weeks, and the winner has to win 4 out of 7 ballet elections. It would be much more exciting, I think.

All we can do is trust the honesty of the election officials and the process, whether it is punchcards, levers, or electronic machines being used.
I would like to trust the idea that there are enough watchdogs from every party there to keep the process honest.
The idea that everyone get a "vote receipt" is absurd. What is the guarantee that THOSE would not be counterfeited, tampered with, etc.?
Some folks can't accept losing an election and want to litigate it to death. Sad.

Are you asking us to have our vote recorded where we can trace it back to a name? That will never ever be the case in America. The privacy of our vote is to allow a more fair election and prevents corruption. I've seen conflicting stories on these electronic voting machines and in fact Ralph Nader gave them a high mark. What these machines do not pick out are the dead people that vote, the under-aged, nor illegals. However this will change with the national ID. Then we'll see what crap the democrats can find to whine about. Do they think that possibly it's their party, not the equipment?

the public is the check and balance in the case of elections, plus there is procedural checks done during the process to ensure validity.

We don't. Our vote doesn't mean anything. The President is actually elected by the electoral college. Not popular vote.
