ANY OB-GYN THAT IS WELL EDUCATED WILL TELL YOU THAT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING. SMALL BONED THIN WOMEN HAVE SPIT BABIES RIGHT OUT WHILE LARGE BONED LARGER WOMEN HAVE BEEN IN LABOR FOR DAYS--NO ONE KNOWS.

Walk, A LOT! This helps to loosen up the ligaments in the pelvis, which can make delivery easier. There are also some excercises, yoga, etc, that are supposed to have the same effect. Your dr/ob should be able to give you some direction in this matter. The bottom line is this, though: if the baby's head is small enough and your pelvis big enough, then you should be fine, but if your pelvis is too small, and/or the baby's head is too big, then nothing you do in preparation is going to make a difference. When I say pelvis, I don't mean hips, I mean lower pelvis. If your doctor/ob thinks this is a problem, he/she should have or will advise you of this, with you now being in the third trim. The only other thing you can do is avoid gaining excessive weight- follow your doctor's advice in this matter.

First of all I would like to make a comment about what the USMC wife said. I gained 50 lbs when I was pregnant I weighed 180 lbs at delivery, I stayed active while I was pregnant by exercising and walking while I was pregnant. I had an easy labor. So it might not work for you Hun but try and stay active and it may help you. Good Luck

Exercise, especially stretching exercises, are the best things you can do. Walking is good. Yoga is better, especially if you have previous experience with it. Keep your body fit and trim. Yes, it CAN be done during pregnancy. Basically, keep busy, eat properly, don't laze about. That really can cause delivery problems. Congratulations, and best wishes.

Truthfully unless you have an extremely small pelvis being small shouldn't make your delivery any different.I think the best thing for any woman to do is walk, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.Exercise benefits labor and delivery.Be sure to keep yourself hydrated.

Being small boned versus big boned has nothing to do with a delivery. Your pelvis will open up the same.

Your size does not really reflect how your delivery will go. I have seen the tinest ladies have some large babies. But one thing that would be great for you would be pre-natal yoga.it really teaches you body awareness and postions for the giving you the most room throughout your pelvic regain. Plus it is very calming.

mind over matter, sister! Do a little research on hypnotherapy - it can really make a labor go easier, and no, you won't be unconscious or unaware. Also, lotsa sex throughout the pregnancy will keep you loose and stretched out (and satisfied!)

as the theory goes in my OB office, and word of mouth from my high risk pregnancy specialists, small women deliver much easier than bigger women. I was only 120ish when i delivered my daughter, after 6 good contractions and 2 good pushes, i was done. :)

I don't know that there is anything you can do. If you have a small pelvic area, don't overlook the idea that you may need a c-section. I have two friends who are small and both end up with a c-section.
