Im looking to get a brace for my teeth in a few weeks, and was going to buy clear brace. But im not sure if thats the best option as someone told me that it will discolour and look worse in the longrun?

Metal braces are the best. I just had mine removed in may, after having them for only a year and a half. They work faster, because they are stronger and the orthodontist can put more pressure on them every time. The ceramic braces are more fragile, and they do get yellow with time, they break more easily also, so the orthodontist won't be able to put as much pressure on them. Just get metal ones, trust me they are really cute. I was 22 when i got them and didn't have a problem with how they looked.

Hi.
Good and bad for both really.
I currently have the ceramic ones and all you see is the metal line going across the teeth. Yes they do discolour but only with certain food stuffs ie: tomatoie things, red wine, curries etc basically anything with a strong food colouring.
The metal one's are more funky, my daughter used to mix the colours up so at christmas she would have red and white etc.
(wasn't the most attractive thing but at 12, she was cool amongst her friends)
I'm 40 and its the best thing I have done - mine are due to come off in the next two weeks.

Good luck

I agree--the metal ones are pretty normal these days, I see plenty of people in the business world with them. As long as you don't have too many contraptions sticking out (I had like, 4 rubber bands when I had mine--annoying!) they'll be barely noticable.
And more of it is how you wear it--if you smile a lot, you'll seem confident and comfortable with them! :)
