My friends play volleyball every fall, it is a league . They have sponsors to help pay fees, and to help with advertisiing on shirts, etc. She asked a friend who works for a local restaurant to check with her employer and see if he would be interested in sponsoring a team this year, and this was the reply: Her own brother says that she is using drugs, and we don't want our restaurant affiliated with such people. So the answer is no. Now, this girl's brother is a salesman who does business with a lot of restaurants etc in this town. He seems to be talking trash about his sister while on company time. Could he be in trouble with his company if she wins a slander suit against him. Can she also sue this brother's company since it is on company time? Thanx in advance for your honest answers. She is contacting a lawyer, we just wanted to get some other input before she goes there.

...nothing of the particulars clear in this question.
however i would like to advise you that if all people who have been hurt by the unfull appraisals of one or others ... any other time or place. then there would no time for court hearings/judgements. the social conditions of this period reflect both more and less respects for a 'perception' . it is ... just so.
there is actually nothing which constitutes slander by what you reveal. it is more revealing of social conditions which exist side by side. it simply relates differences in human values and the out-come of their abilities or inabilities to resolve such differences in a present.
by what you speak there seem only cause to understand the more full perspective and raise and uplift your values respectfully.
slander is an expression of disgust at realizing what other(s) reveal(relate) and one whom issues such an expression may more or less neglect common human terms in recognizing what is beneficial to each. (as are selfishly evaluated) .
hope this has been helpfull for you.

Slander/Libel is very tricky to prove and win especially slander. Slander/Libel is a few things such as bearing false witness. Could be married to framing. Meaning you lied to protect a guilty party(including yourself) and harmed an innocent party for a crime done. Another would be a pretext on suspicious and just the rid of an innocent party usually with jealous peers, steady couples or supervisors who dislike honest/challenging employees of their cover-ups. Such as saying you stole, sexually harrassed, sold age requiremented items to ungerage, etc. Finally magazine and media spreading personal lives of anyone mainly famous for sales(see liberace). Usually to win you need to capture and link such by via writing or tape recording (view you recording laws in your state)
