My daughter took some test at her public school and they said she has an I.Q. of 101. This test was given to her when she was in the first grade around this time last year. I do not mess with things lke this so if anyone who has an answer would be helpful.

IQ is supposed to be irrelevant of age. So a 2nd grader with an IQ of 101 is just as smart as my grandmother with the same IQ. I only hope the 2nd grader makes more sense.

And fyi 100 is average, so the 2nd grader is average. Someone has to be in the middle.

I tested circa 138 last, but don't take too much stock in these numbers. They also are testing how well you take the tests, so with practice, you can improve your test score, if not your native IQ.

The IQ scoring convention was originally set up such that an IQ of 100 defined the center of the bell-shaped curve you'd see if you plotted all the results of the testing of a large group of people on a single piece of graph paper. That is, a score of 100 is supposed to be _precisely_ .... "average". SO, 101 is the slightest possible score increase that could be considered "above average". In truth, the "average" IQ score has been increasing some in recent years. Also, the "for a child of X age" part is mostly irrelevant, as typically, IQ scores do not change much with age, once a person has reached school age.

It dosent matter if yur in second grade or 12 th grade. The IQ test is based on things you should know around your age level. The IQ score of 101 is average.

For the most section. I cant trust that a number of the contestants dont understand the very staple products. i like Jeff Foxworthy and that i delight in seeing the toddlers and their abundance of enthusiasm. i have been a contestant on some exhibits and understand it really isn't any longer an identical as sitting at abode, yet nevertheless-i'm hoping i'd be smarter than a fifth grader.

Its average -

IQ is not an absolute score rather it compares you with people of the same age and gender. So if you got the average (mean) score you would have an IQ of about 100. It is perfectly good score.

You are confusing "smart" with "intelligence". Intelligence is the "capacity" to learn and reason and normally does not change much with age. 101 is average. A person can be smart and have a low intelligence and be dumb with a high intelligence.

IQ stays the same through ones life. But I wouldn't get all worked up about any score. What one does with what they have is way more important than the score.

It means she's intelligent, but genius level starts at 145.
Also IQ means intelligent QUOTIENT, which means that it's formulated to account for age, so it's the same for all ages.
