I grew up in PRP/VS areas. I live south of Louisville now. I like the ruralness where I live now. There are farms, old houses, new houses, cornfields, soybean fields, and just an assortment of nice people. The Louisville Area is a great place to live. The only negatives are the freezing temperatures and snow in the winter.

My parents live in a normal, middle-class sub in the Midwest and have lived in the same house since I was 9 months old (I'm 23) I LOVED growing up in that neighborhood because there were so many kids! My brother and I always had someone to play with. And all the families got along really well, watching out for eachothers kids and being official baby-sitters when needed. Fights of any kind were surprisingly rare. We swam, rode bikes, and played with barbies (well, the girls did anyway). When we got a little older we invented our own games (like a whack-job version of cops & robbers and something that involved letting someone's lawn grow and then mowing a maze in it and playing tag...?), and played pick-up games of every sport imaginable. We got a little older and in the summer we may have had other stuff to do, but we always found time to hang out. We lived behind the city high school where I played all my softball games. I remember walking home from games the summer I was 13 or 14 and since I passed some of my neighbors' houses on the way to mine, I just stopped wherever the crowd was, not bothering to even take my stuff home half the time. And we'd just sit around talking in someone's yard until the sun went down and then we played hide and seek in the pitch blackness of our adjacent backyards until we were called in for the night. I never realized how great my childhood was until everyone started growing up and moving away. Almost all of our parents still live there, so we still see eachother, but it's not the same, of course. I have noticed that there's a new group of kids down the street who are just the right age to have done what we did. The kids are different and now I'm an outsider looking in, but it's the same thing all over again, and I'm glad the spirit still exists.

I demand a house swap ! I live in the north-east of England. The house is just over 100 years old,3 storeys. Some of the neighbours are fantastic and would do anyone a favour. My next door neighbours are the worst ever. It's mostly a road full of white people, but quite a few Muslim people as well, who are really decent and friendly folk. No one throws anything good away, mostly old mattresses and broken fridges. My sis moved to Spain and she and a friend go for a skip night, every few weeks. In every street and outside every store is a skip or space for unwanted stuff. She once got a new 3 piece suite of sofa and chairs, which only had a tiny tear in the back, from outside the furniture store. This is a good question which opens more ...but I'd better stop here!

Dang…your neighborhood is awesome! The best that I can say about mine is that it has a canal that runs alongside it…stinky, yet picturesque. My townhome complex is over 30-years-old…history stretching clear back to the Nixon era. Today, at the dumsters, someone threw away a computer desk with a faux oak formica finish.

I live in a nice quiet new suburb...and I'm usually against suburbs because everyone seems to be so packed in that wherever you look, you see your neighbors house and it's two feet away!
But I'm lucky...all of the major windows in my home face a beautiful farm with lots of great trees and horses, etc. I have no neighbors on my right and just one on my left...and they are the nicest couple. ..so I really enjoy my neighborhood because while I have neighbors and other homes are nearby, they aren't staring me in the face when I sit down for breakfast in my boxers.

I live in the 'burbs. It's pretty and usually quiet and I can get just about anywhere I need or want to in 30 minutes or less.
My neighbors are pretty nice too. No one has thrown out such great stuff here. It's usually left over garage sale crap!

The good thing about my neighborhood is that, it is a gated community. The community is filled with a diverse mix of families- Ethopian, Asian, African-American, White, & Hispanic. My neighborhood is clean and free of gang violence, graffiti, & other disturbing factors in most neighborhoods.

It's safe, the river runs right along the city, and there is always something going on in one of the great parks, and the people are always entertaining, yet friendly.

I like the parks.
Can walk to a park and from there, I can go east or west and go to another park and if I keep going in that direction, I find yet another park. Lots of fun. Very pretty!
