My husband and I are going to begin trying for our first baby. I have went off of my birth control in order to let my body prepare for getting pregnant. However, I am ovulating only days before our insurance at his new job will become effective. I want to go ahead and try because I don't think they will be able to track the exact day we concieved, but my husband is afraid they won't cover us if we concieve before insurance kicks in. Does anybody know how this works?

You'll probably just have to call the insurance company and ask. My husband's insurance company (USAA) covers pre-existing conditions and we were in the same situation so everything worked out. :) Good luck!

You are more likely to ovulate the first month going off birth control, so that's the best time to try to get pregnant.

Insurance companies are funny though. I would contact your HR department about it first. Putting a call into your insurance company could put up a red flag.

If you do get pregnant this month, I wouldn't worry too much about it because how would they know when exactly you conceived. You can always fib to your OB and say the first day of your last period was a couple of days later than it actually was. Good luck!

I have heard that SOMETIME'S they will NOT cover you depending on when the doctor pinpoint's your due date, if they think it's before insurance they can be funny and NOT pay! So I would look into this first, tho it's only afew day's you may be okay, and if you want a baby bad enough then if insurance doesn't pay,it really wont matter. Good luck!!

Not only will they possibly not cover you as a pre-existing condition, but many MANY insurance companies won't cover ANY pregnancies during the first 24 months of coverage.

Good luck to you....I am in the same boat!

I wouldn't be concerned. Your right about that fact that they won't know when you concieved. Also, my insurance didn't go effective until I was about 8 weeks, but I hadn't even found out I was pg until I was 6 weeks along. Anyway, my ins worked out just fine, my ins doesn't consider pregnancy a pre-exsisting condition. Good Luck!

The insurance goes by the first day that you go to the doctor-not when you got pregnant. If you go to the doctor AFTER you find out you are pregnant-then they have no choice but to cover it!

Personally, I would call and ask your insurance company. I started getting insurance through my company after four years and called them five different times to make sure they would start covering a pregnancy right away - before I started trying. Call them and call several times to talk to different people and make sure - THEN start trying. Baby dust to you and me! :) Good luck!

Yes. you should wait in any legal matter. I think that if you are really concerned, then you should just wait a few days....there is always something other then intercourse..... ;)
