hi, i have managed to format my new 128mb sony duo memory stick (2 of) using mt laptop but when i put either one in my sony s700i mobile a screen message reads "memory stick error" the cards are the same spec as the 32mb i use, when i insert the original caed NO PROBLEMS, many thanks.

ALWAYS format a new memory card in the phone when you first buy it. anyway, format it in the phone then put it in the pc and then just copy your files to it. it will work once put back in your phone. formatting it in your pc is different as the pc thinks its just an extra drive (usually drive e) and it is like formating your pc hard drive or a cd which is totally different. the memory stick need mobile formatting software not pc

You need to look at the 32 meg card and copy that data to your new one... THis tells the phone what the card is and then it will know how to read it...
I have had to do this with my 1gig card and my w800i....
