every now and then, my boyfriend and i would always have nothing to talk about after we argued over some trivial matters...we have been quarreling over very very small things..for instance, we just started a cold war again... it's because that he just commented that i was watching a ' stupid' tv show. it's just a normal hong kong drama show... after hearing that, i could stand it no more... because not only just this time, he also commented that whatever online games i play, it was 'stupid'...so i told him off that it's not nice to hear this at all, especially when its repeatedly mentioned...then he said that it was a joke...i know,i don't mind...but it's too much, he said it too often that i think its not funny at all...so often that whenever i play the games, i can imagine what he is going to say again...i find that there's a limit to everything...am i too petty?am i wrong to be angry this time?i feel so sad whenever we quarrel over small small things,not gd at all,what do u think?

thanks to all of you... all your words comfort me... ever since i decided to have this 1st relationship of my life, i hope that he is my 1st and last man in my life. he's the one i love, i want to marry to, i want to have a future with... he's a good man, really... just that he has his own way of thinking about certain things and a little of male 'chauvinism'... though i may be upset about this, but i know i still treasure and love him....

No, you are not being petty. He is the one acting immature. A relationship is built on respect, and how we feel when we are around the other person. When he tells you those things, they do not make you feel good, and who wants to be with someone that they don't feel good with? And it is also disrespectful to you, because even if he is not interested in the things that interest you, he should at least respect you for being into it.

You are smart enough if you dump the stupid & control freak. It's not funny at all if the guy keep on insulting your preference choice in every aspects of your life. You have your own choice & interest. Nobody should stop you from doing what you like unless it's against the law & hurting people. If your guy really love you, he would respect your own privacy, hobby, interest etc even he don't share the same interest in what you like. Tell the guy to get lost. You deserve a better one.

I know this sounds wierd but i know quite a few couples who seem to quarrel endlessly on anything, yet some of them have stuck for years and they seem to be ok with it. Thing is i often suspect that they only stick it out cos they may have never experienced anything better.
One thing is for sure, don't just hope things will get any better, they usually don't. So either get used to this or maybe consider moving on

guys are all the same! mine does the same thing, insults me in some way then says he was 'kidding'. I don't think you are being petty. if it bothers you then it is not petty - you can not control how you feel. you can control how you react to it though.
at this point, if he continues to insult you then he is doing it to push your buttons. if this could be the case, then you need to call him out in his minupulative behavior.
Tell him that you know he is saying that only to bother you, and it's not going to work this time so he can just go f'off because you don't need his approval. he will probably get angry and say that you are crazy.... but it might end the comments

I would say you stop talking this way to the person your suppose to care about or get out and find someone smarter to take you! You don't have to put up being unhappy by his verbal abuse and you don't know he could get worse be strong and move on but also remember not to find the same guy again happens alot find someone loving and caring of you needs. Your deserve better to settle for anything less!

stop looking at it from that perspective its not about the stuff you are doing being stupid or not its about sex, make up sex, next time he says any thing just argue a little and then jump him in the living room that is what he wants so quit whining and start putting out

No, you are no petty, but he is. Some guy just don't like their gf to do something that they don't like to do. The comment "stupid" is definitely no kidding, kidding is just an excuse when he find that you was irritated.

makes me want to say ...tell him his stuff is stupid. he sounds very immature.
tell him his comments are not taken in a joking manner and that they are hurtful. he is insulting your intelligence by suggesting that everything you are interested in is stupid.
no youre not being petty. it would be very annoying to me. again, he sounds very immature and needs to grow up and get a life.

Well to me, if a person does'nt have anything nice to say about someone, then it shouldnt be said at all. tell him to say things like, how are you today, or you look so pretty when your just sitting there playing games.

maybe the things that your argue about are not really whats on his mine.......listen when you find him saying the same thing over and over or arguing about stupid stuff, most of the time it's really something bigger than waht he's trying to argue with you about
