Noels house party was taken off the air because the ratings fell. I think it was the Late Late Breakfast show where Noel got people to do stunts. The one you are refering to was a man in a high cradle (I think it was supposed to be some form of bungee jump or escapology thing) who undid his own safety harness while in the cherry picker. When the time ran out and the door released he fell to his death. Noel Edmonds was beside himself but it was, I recall, established that the man himself undone the safety line. I am not sure if it was "taken" off the air or whether Noel Edmunds could not bring himself to repeat the fomat of the show.

No, it was another Noel Edmonds series, The Late Late Breakfast Show, which was taken off the air on 15th November 1986 (the last programme shown was on 8th November) due to the death of Michael Lush died following an accident when rehearsing a Whirly Wheel stunt.
If this hadn't happened, would Noel have been able to inflict us with Mr Blobby or Crinkley Bottom?

Not Noel's House Party but another Noel Edmunds vehicle, The Late Late Breakfast show. It use to do stunts with members of the public they surprised the week before. they had a week to practise i think it was and one of the contestants died during a stunt practise run the week before it was due to air.
Mike Smith was talking about it again on GMTV this week.

Yes. And don't forget the two bears he "had to have put down, as there was nowhere to care for them", when his "Crinkley Bottom" Theme Park failed to pull in the punters. This is crap, because I know plenty of charities who would have sorted it out. I am not an animal lover, but this shows a callousness from someone who should have shown more compassion, especially given his immense fortune. Death now follows the man like a cloud wherever he goes, his very name striking loathing into into the hearts of children and animals.

It is true that did happen, it was a stunt that went wrong live on air. Did it have to be taken off? No. It was done I believe out of respect and to prevent further tragedies occuring.
