How many of you on here think that the $4 million spent on the superdome should've been spent on homes and businesses in the area rather than on football? I think it is digusting. People are still homeless, but yet people can't live without a super nice football stadium. I feel so sorry for the people in New Orleans. Although, hopefully some of the money coming in from the game will go to the people of the community and not just to the football team.

I think bringing the Saints back will help the community rebuild. However, I do have a problem with everybody saying this game will show how New Orleans is back and recovered from the disaster. Just because the Superdome is re-opened does not mean the city is recovered. It is far from that, no matter what they want you to believe.

The New Orleans Saints and the Superdome are bussinesses. Today's game will bring into the community well over that $4 million. The Saints have for the first time in history sold out all season tickets. This shows that the people really want their team back.

Oh and by the way the Superdome is hardly super nice. It is (even referbished) on the lower end of the Stadium's in the NFL.

Aside from who actually paid that $4 million, take into account 50 to 70,000 fans will be spending money in a variety of small businesses - restaurants, gas stations, even some lodging etc.

Anything that draws tourism or sports dollars back into New Orleans and actually drops cash into the local economy and wages can considered positive and positive flow is better than no flow.

Some of these answers parallel with most of America. I'm born and raised in N.O. to hear idiots say its time we help our selves is ridicules. We have been doing all we can since day one (8-29-05). Sure you have some that want something for nothing, but tell me what city doesn’t. The high majority of us have been doing all that is possible. Yes the Miss. coast was devastated also, but nowhere near per captia then us. Yea the politicians did lose jobs before and after, again same as any other city. It burns me up, America’s worst disaster in history and I have to listen to a------- say s---- like pull your selves up by the bootstraps and help yourselves. Well idiot my job for the gov. has taken me all over southeast La. several times, and I can tell you haven't seen when so many lost everything they had, not to mention over 1700 dead, yea dead. Let some one take your house, your furniture, your neighbors, your cars, and all the business in your city, then and only then will your option matter, idoit. Oh one more thing for all who think all our loss was due to the levees breaking, some parts on the out skirts of N.O. had up to 33 feet of waves come and wipe them out. To get a detailed look at southeast La. even today would bring a tear to any decent persons eye. Please come see for yourselves before you start telling us to pull ourselves up by the bootstraps. From someone who has been there and done that, can you say the same? If not shut up. Oh yea rebuilding the dome is an investment that will pay off even in the short run. Something that the rest of America needs to do. Without our port America would not be where it is at today. From the earliest day to WWII to goods and oil today. America not only needs us but whether you know it or not uses us everyday. People can be so stupid when they open there mouths sometimes. With that off my chest I must say, as a lifetime resident of N.O. I thank all who realize our situation and have helped and realize that there is still much left to do and continue to help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

i think it should have been spent on homes but look at it this way, they will get football back in new orleans and people will start coming there it will make people happy to see football back there. plus they will have to spend another $4 million after tonights game because the fans are going to be so loud the roof is going to fly off

REBUILDING THE SUPERDOME WILL GIVE THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS A "SHOT IN THE ARM". THE PEOPLE COMING TO THE GAME WILL DUMP MILLIONS INTO THE ECONOMY IN JUST A FEW DAYS.... NOT TO MENTION, U2 AND ANOTHER BAND WILL BE PLAYING DURING THE GAME, UNDOUBTEDLY RAISING MONEY FOR HURRICANE VICTIMS. THE GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE SECTOR HAVE DUMPED A TON OF MONEY INTO THE REGION ALREADY AND WHAT HAS COME OF IT? WHAT HAPPENED DOWN THERE WAS A TRAGEDY, AND MY HEART TRULY GOES OUT TO THE PEOPLE DOWN THERE, BUT IT'S TIME THEY START HELPING THEMSELVES, AS WELL. THE GOVERNOR AND THE MAYOR HAVE KNOWN FOR YEARS THAT THE LEVIES COULDN'T WITHSTAND A CLASS 3 HURRICANE, AND THEY DID NOTHING ABOUT IT. AS A SOCIETY, WE BETTER QUIT RELYING ON THE GOVERNMENT FOR EVERYTHING. THE PEOPLE IN MISSISSIPPI WERE RAVAGED BY THIS STORM, AS WELL. WE DON'T HEAR THE COMPLAINTS FROM THEM BECAUSE THEY PULLED THEMSELVES UP BY THE BOOT-STRAPS AND REBUILT THEIR OWN HOMES AND LIVES.

Though it supposedly is a symbol of the "rebirth" of New Orleans I definitely think the money could be well spent in other ways. Unfortunately this is the indication of how our society has dealt with the horrible situation after the devastation of hurricane Katrina.

You are right. I wouldn't count on them giving some of the money they take in at that game to the community though. They will find other uses for it.

Yes you are right the money and all that work should have been put back into homes, food, and clothing to all those people that worked and lived there. What a shame....................................................
