watching what I eat. What else can I do so that I do not gain anymore weight? How long does this weight gain last?

You will probably go thru this for another few months. Your metabolism is going bonkers right now. About the only thing you can do is keep exercising and watch what you eat. Just be careful because the Holidays are just around the corner.

I quit 7 months ago and have gained more weight then I care to admit. Went from a size 4-6 to 12-14 and have been walking 4-5 miles, every day, without fail and do some kind of strength training 2-3 times a week. Because of it (the weight) I now have high blood pressure, which was always below the norm when I smoked, am pre-diabetic, which was NEVER an issue when I smoked AND have higher cholesterol, which, when I smoked was around 200 and now is 269! Now someone tell me, is the smoking or the weight worse? I am at my wits end. Have been healthy all my life, now I'm at the dr's constantly. So it's all fine and good for the people saying stick with it but when you continue to gain and feel wretched all the time it doesn't help. Good luck and although I'm not endorsing smoking by any means, I am not healthier, in my opinion, then when I smoked.

Don't worry about the weight gain right now as long as you are trying to watch what you eat and exercise. The best thing for your health is that you quit smoking. Congrats on that!

I quit 18 months ago and the weight is still on I didn't use any patches though, I just decided to stop and did. FOrtunately I was very light to start with, but I just feel fat all the time.

Congrats on quitting smoking!

Keep up with the diet and exercise. As long as you are burning more calories than you consume, you'll lose the weight. If it becomes too concerning, call your doctor.
