What works well to get rid of crickets and spiders?

Short of hiring a professional, is there a product that works well to spray around the outside of my home to keep the crickets and spiders from coming in? I'd rather not use anything in my house as I have a small child. Thanks for any ideas!

As I have preached time and time again. One of the greatest deterrents is to get a caulk gun and some tubes of caulk and go around the area of the house.. foundation and where the foundation meets the bottom of the house and caulk any and all holes that you find there. Crickets and other insects use those holes to get into the house.... caulking will deprive them of the best means.. Around the house, (even my house) I spray twice a yeare with a powerful spray at HOme Depot.. Ask the person ther in charge which is the best.. ONLY the best spray.. NOT spray from a grocery store or Walmart's.... as far as INSIDE the house.. you could spray with an aerosol can those areas where crickets, etc were seen but if you get the outside entry taken care of, you will have pretty much solved the problem.

To get rid of crickets use Niban

For a more environmental approach to treating the the interior as well as the exterior, use Niban Bait. Crickets love Niban. Apply it to cracks and crevices where insects are hiding, or spread it around on the exterior.

I like spiders, they eat fly's and bugs.
Just have a man move them outside.

Theres a product called Citrionella (sp) that deters all insect type creatures. All you do is spray it on walls and around windows and doors ect and they dont like the taste so they leave. Its pretty safe once its dried, so make sure your kids and pets are not in the house when you spray it around the place.
