Set aside the women's rights issues and the civil rights movements, and other special interest groups, families consisted of married couples that stayed together, women who put their homes and families first, and men who provided for their families. Sure there were so bad ones , but it was not the norm as it is today to have children out of wedlock, broken marriages, etc. The streets were safer, women were respected more, schools were better, etc. I would trade all the modern technology of today to live in a safe, family oriented world of decent people.

Born in the 50's I can say your absolutely right. However I wont tell you why things are the way they are today; because you may feel hurt by the answer, though the answer is simple to see, if one know the concept of living "outside the box."
One would have to remove oneself from the race of MAN, and become an observer, then as one considers the most current history of the world, the conclusions are obvious. Women have played a great role in the declination of society, but the greatest culprit is GREED; better know as the first deadly sin "AVARICE."

there have been sturdy issues about the 50's that we've lost. There are some issues extra ideal on the on the spot. As a lady i'm happy to be in this era. i turned right into a baby contained in the 50's and that changed into sturdy and colleges were saver and persons did not even ought to fasten the doors of the houses. yet i wouldn't have had to be a grown woman then. Even contained in the late 60's when I utilized for my first pastime, they could discriminate because i turned right into a lady and they requested own questions that an corporation can not ask anymore. It changed into assumed that you'll marry and performance little ones so that they did not take a lady heavily and if she did get the pastime she changed into no longer paid an identical salary. maximum issues are extra ideal now, yet some are worse. We were a extra sexually moral us of a contained in the 50's. on the different hand we were also very judgmental. a gentle woman would not even imagine of having sex earlier marriage. yet those undesirable souls that were raped or 'taken income of' had to flow off someplace secretly and performance their little ones. It turned right into a shame to their relatives. That has replaced. we are a extra violent us of a now, and that isn't any longer sturdy.

I agree to an extent, but I wouldn't want to give up the Internet - I love it! I also like having a cell phone with me so that if I get a flat tire need help, my phone is readily available.
Also, what about the women who don't want kids? I'm married but don't want children - in the 50s, I think virtually everybody was having families. I would not want to be living back then and be expected to have kids. I like being able to work and make my own decisions. It's all about choosing people who have respect for you in your life. The decades don't really matter - they're all the same.

If you're only 40, you weren't even alive in the 50's, and were barely conscious of the real world in the 60's, so I think you have a rather idealized, romantic view of what they were like. You think you'd be better off then, staying at home in a clean safe neighborhood, taking care of the house while hubby went off to work, right? You can't know that, so stop wishing for the past.

I often think the same thing. Only one partner needed to work while the other could look after the kids. Eventually women started to work to provide a better life and be able to afford more things. But where are we now? Now it takes both partners working full time to be able to buy house, instead of having more money around everything has become more expensive to counteract it and now we can't go back.
Most new technolodies/tools developed to make life easier usually end up making us work twice as harder/longer.
We've eroded dicipline and can't go back.
There are manything things in this day that are fantastic, and to be honest i know living without them would be difficult, but at the moment the grass does seem greener on the other side.

Hell Yes! Those days were a hell of lot better then what's going on in this world today! Today - IT'S A MESS! And it's not going to get any better. So we might as well just hope that we wake up the next morning and breathe without is serious illnesses or getting murdered that day. Stay away from negative people and their problems and concentrate on doing you.

Your so right on this. the world is getting out of hand. before, married couples took their vows very serious, today there just words for most.and its sad. at least back then, you never had to worry about your kids going trick or treat. today, you have to have all the candy, xrayed.

and they were telling the kids to hide under their desks when the bomb was dropped. It was called "Duck and Cover". I wouldn't have wanted to live through that era.
