Clean your air ducts. You can hire a company to come in and do that for about $250.

You know.. that is a very difficult but easy question to answer.... first of all get a clear picture/idea as to just what is dust.. The composition of dust varies from house to house, but in general, you might find textile fibers, decomposing insect parts, pet dander, human and animal hair, food leftovers, pollen grains, mold spores, bacteria, skin flakes, insulation, sand, and the most likely offender, the dust mite and its fecal material.

Now.. What increases the amount of dust in a house?
Carpets, draperies, ruffled items, knickknacks, books, magazines, pets, upholstered furniture, animals and pillows, and fireplaces are some of the things that increase dust levels. Infrequent cleaning or cleaning with a vacuum cleaner without a high efficiency filtering device, high traffic levels, location of the house, type of yard, and condition of the central air system can all contribute to the amount of dust in your home For example, if you are in a new neighborhood where there is a lot of construction and the yards are not sodden with grass, you will have more dust in your home. Leaks in the duct work can cause dust and insulation from the attic to be drawn into the living space.

To reduce this dust.. requires continual dusting with any type of rag.... keeping windows closed and doors closed... brushing the dog/cat regularly outside as this brings fine hair particles into the room.

I thought that my house was CLEAN.. really clean.. then one morning I was standing by the kitchen counter and the sun rays were coming in the window at an angle.. I looked at the sun rays on the INSIDE of the house and was SHOCKED.. the air was totally filled with fine, floating junk.. I thought oh boy. I am breathing that.. So. I went to the air conditioner place and told them and they installed a new magnetic filter for my central a/c.. Yes, the cost about $300.. I turned that on and in 24 hour time, I could see NO dust and junk particles in the air when the sun rays showed thru the window.. so I am a VERY strong believer in the air filters being of highest quality

Change your air filters in the heating unit, keep blinds closed, and dust with a spray that helps eliminate dust build up. Also an air purifier might help.Good luck

Turn your A/C system to the air setting so that it filters the air in your house constantly just for a little while each day.

Change the filters in your a/c system so that they're clean and can collect more dust.

Dust your furniture lightly each week.

Dust more often. Exfoliate- 80 % of dust is dead skin cells. Get an ionizer that will negatively charge the dust particles and then draw them in with a positive chage. Move.

i used to worry about that to distraction. then a eureka moment occured. dust is not such a bad thing. clutter is. fighting dust is a lost battle from the word GO. do the necessary vacuuming as you do normally and put your effort on clearing clutter instead. you'll see. your life will be less stressful.

I have the same problem I have found that if I keep a fan on to move the air it is not as bad also try getting a humidifier, it really helps too.

Prevention is better.. Keep your windows closed as much as possible. Minimise the air movement, especially when you're living nearby construction site. Don't forget to clean & vacuum the ceiling when you do.

I put a lot of thought into this one and then I came up with a solution that I think just might work-you might consider dusting more often.
