Dancing was originated from waaaay back in the days when we were still ape-like creatures...
When two species went to war or attacked eachother, they would perporm a war dance to intimidate the enemy and boost the moral of the troops!
I guess this war dance just gradually transformed into an art and into DANCE as we know it today

There have been lots of investigation on this by various sorts of anthropologists studying all kinds of people in different countries. It seems that all cultures independently developed some form of music and dancing - even if it is not immediately understandable to other cultures.
Its like many cultures independently created bows and arrows.
