Depends how you describe 'best'. I saw Ringo play twice in the 60's and he was a fine drummer but, technically, no better or worse than his contemporaries. I see Keith Moon mentioned. Well I saw him too and he really went over the top and distracted everyone from the rest of the music. Being loud and hitting everything that moves isn't necessarily skill. Ginger Baker was good though.However in terms of personality Ringo was head and shoulders above the rest and as a member of the best band in the world he must have had something.

He wasn't the best drummer, I think he was the coolest, but probably not the best. Definitely not in the early Beatle days when they toured but once they only made albums and didn't tour his drumming was a lot better. Either way Ringo is my favorite drummer for sure.

a commonly known fact is that ringo didn't play drums on several beatles song from each album. paul did. john was once asked if ringo was the best drummer in the world..........he replied, "Ringo's not even the best drummer in the Beatles."
my vote goes to keith moon.

Ringo was exceptional for sure, but whats-his-name with the Ventures back in the 1960s was best.

Probably the best drummer ever was Buddy Rich, but something tells me that you're referring to rock drummers.

peter criss or me is the best drummer. ringo starr gets to much credit, he was not the best ever.

Carl Palmer from Emerson, Lake and Palmer.
I saw him in concert a couple of times and was never disappointed.
