I haven't had a checking account for a long time, 5 years ago I had problems with having a bank account closed and a bounced check, I now have a good job and I want to start over, where can I go to check?

You can call the bank you are interested in. Usually, they don't look into your past history.(I just wouldn't use the same bank as before.) As long as you have the money to open the account you shouldn't have a problem. You can also go online to check a banks requirements and policies. Good for you, getting back on your feet!!

I would bank with Wachovia, where are you located? They dont care if you have outstanding balances with other banks or bounced checks.
