I plan on taking a vacation with some friends and I am treating, I do not want to carry a lot of cash on me. I don't know what to do; we are going to a furniture store to buy furniture, but I plan on having fun to. I want to take to good friends to some really nice restaurant in Dallas Texas but we don't know where, and I don't think everyone excepts out-of-town checks either. What should I do?

....Do all restaurants accept travelers' checks?

All of them do, except those that don't.

Travelers checks are becoming outdated and unwelcome.
Part of the reason is the fraudulent use. Many merchants don't want to chance them, but prefer to use a Cr. Card or Debit Card
American Express has a card that has replaced Travelers checks;you purchase it for a certain amount and then use it during your trip. However it can only be used where the AMEX card is accepted (check on that)
Just remember that you can use your debit card to get cash while you are traveling, even if you are outside of the US
