I plan on taking a vacation with some friends and I am treating, I do not want to carry a lot of cash on me. I don't know what to do; we are going to a furniture store to buy furniture, but I plan on having fun to. I want to take to good friends to some really nice restaurant in Dallas Texas but we don't know where, and I don't think everyone excepts out-of-town checks either. What should I do?

Use credit cards or use atm much cheaper, travelers checks are very hard to use anymore, I had some for a trip some time back and could not use them.

It is very hard to find travelers checks any more. Just go to the bank and they will give you a travelers card which works the same way as a travelers check, meaning it is as good as cash and it is safe and will be replaced if you lose it. Every place you go to will not accept them, but almost all, and you can ask before you even sit down to be sure it will be accepted. Take some cash along too for small purchases and little emergencies.

Best answer I got is get a debit/credit card from your bank. For some good idea for restaurants: the places with the best food and the little no name restaurants, but if you looking for something nice and plesant to look at, well the resataurant in the ball (I cant remember what the name is) but that big ball in the sky is a restaurant, expensive as heck, but it spins to let u see the whole city

Most places don't except out of town checks at all but traveler's checks are different. But you'll have to ask at the restaurant about their policies.
Have a backup plan for your traveler's checks.'

you can get from amex and visa prepaid cards it is a plastic travelers check that can be used as a check card travelers ck. are some times hard to get cashed or go to bank cash traverlers ck. get cash
