well if its less than nine weeks, they give you a drug that kinda makes you not care. then they put you on a table, like if you was getting a pab smear. they insert a metal thing, that opens you up, then they hook up a vaccum like thing, that sucks it all out. then they take you to recovery, they make you drink juice and cookies, just to make sure your not going to throw up, they check your pad.to make sure your not bleeding more than you should. and they write you a prescription to keep you from getting an infection. they send you home, you stay off your feet for that day, no sex for 6 weeks. you can go back to work the next day. having a monthly peroid is a lot worst. it doesnt hurt at all. you might cramp at little, while they are doing it. iam just telling you what mine was like. after its over, there are no regrets.

If I'm understanding your question correctly, There are two types of abortion. Surgical Abortion- which is to acutally have the fetus surgically removed by suction. Can be performed as early as you discover that you are pregnant all the way into the second trimester.
Medical Abortion- is when you take Mifeprostone and Misoprostol pills to cause miscarriage. I know people who have done both of these techniques. You only have a small window of opportunity to do a medical abortion, up to 6 to 7 wks.
It is a less invasive technique, because you take the first pill with the doctor The mifeprostone: which stops the growth of the fetus and then insert 3 to 4 pills in the vagina the mistoprostol: which begins to eliminate it out of your body, up to 72 hours later at home so you decide when to do it. The only thing is that the cramps can be very painful and you might actually bleed longer than the surgical abortion technique. Also the bleeding is heavy and you will see clumps of tissue.
Either way you are going to experience an emotional roller coaster. Talk with the Dr to evaluate which technique might be best for your situation. Hope that helps!

There are many ways of medically terminating a pregnancy ranging from a D&C (curette) in early pregnancy to later stages (Im not sure how this is done but its not a simple D&C and then there is multiple pregnancy where the woman is pregnant with eg 5 babies it would be suggested that she terminate 1 or 2 babies to give the other 3 a better chance of survival again I dont know how this is done but there are many cercumstances

okay, nice way to put abortion. Okay, what happens is the doctor will quickly insert medal rods, ito the cervix, and quickly move them back and forth, and enlarging the rods, to manually dialte the cervix, the quickly suction with a vacuume tube out the fetus, and remains of the pregnancy.
This is a very painful procedure, Possible worse then labor and birth itself.
Afterwards, the female is put into a recovery room, most likely with other woman, and given a heating pad to put on her stomach. There will be incredible cramping, and blood loss.
Also she will be weal for a few days following.
Of coarse w/any procedure there is risk for infection, and long term problems. Also if the pregnancy is too early, they might have to repeat procedure again if not successfully termiated. There is no way that if the pregnancy is not removed that damaged was not caused, making the repeat procedure nessescary!!!!!!!
(the offices will not tell about this because they fear you will not go threw w/.this. )

In the early months it is just like a D & C. Basically sucking out the embryo and all that goes with it. In the latter stages of pregnancy it is much more complicated. Best to talk to someone in the medical field.

Yes, there are many resources available free to the public with access to a computer and the internet, on-line.
Here are two areas with many sites offering information on or about clinical explanations
http://www.ask.com/web?o=333&qsrc=19&l=dir&q=clinical+explanation+of+abortion+procedure
http://www.healthline.com/search?q1=abortion%20procedure&utm_medium=google&utm_source=abortion&utm_campaign=serp&utm_term=abortion%20procedure
I feel compelled to add this note of commentary - As always, conferring with your physician or another qualified medical professional, is always advisable, and should be done prior to any final decisions and/or treatments dealing with medical issues. If the women is governed by this country, then she is part of 'we the people ...", "by the people ...", and 'for the people ...’ The final desision, must rest with the women who's body it is, for she is its most local of governments. A woman's womb is no place for others to control. It is hers alone.
