Your computer could be overheating because of a broken fan, but it's more likely that your CPU fan and heatsink are clogged with dust.

Does the crash only happen when the computer is on for a long time (>2 hours)? If that's the case, then it's probably what I just mentioned. Either that, or there's something else that could be failing when it heats up.

When the blue screen appears, there should be a file name listed there, usually with a .DLL file extension. What is it? Is it the same file all the time? If your computer isn't overheating, then it could be a problem with a specific file that only a few of your programs use.

Opening up your computer and cleaning it is something you have to do occasionally anyway, so you might as well get cracking.
You should always keep the computer case and desk clean because the fans in your computer suck in dust like a vacuum cleaner.
I keep a lint-free cloth beside my computer so I can clean the desk and computer every 2 days.

I wish there was a simple answer to this, but unfortunately, there isn't. Here is a technical explanation:

The most common type of fatal exception is 0E and this refers to a paging fault. If you're not familiar with Windows paging, a section of your hard drive is set aside for 'virtual memory'. You can have ten different programs running at the same time, but when you switch between these programs, portions of the active program is loaded into physical memory (RAM) and portions of the inactive programs reside in virtual memory. A fatal exception of this type means that a paging protection rule has been violated. This could have been caused by a hard drive problem or it could also be a RAM problem. If this problem occurs often, then you're probably looking at some type of hardware failure. If it happens every once in a while, then it could just be a general incidental problem. If you lack technical computer knowledge, take your computer in to a reputable shop to have it checked out.

My advice: Get windows XP, get the free ad-aware SE download at lavasoft.com and clear spyware for 2 mins a day. Go to start, accessories, system tools, clean/scan disk and scan your disk daily.

DSL helps too if you don'r have it. Sounds like a virus and XP has been the only thing that's kept my pc clean.Install Panda anti virus, and have auto windows updates. Windows updates protect your pc.
Good luck!

Sounds like some part of your computer overheats as a result of a failing fan. Make sure the harddrive is vented enough and that the fan of the CPU is working properly. If necessary, install a new fan.

It is the main problem with Windows, especially the versions before Windows XP.
There is nothing you can do.
