I look very seriously into their eyes and tell them to go or I would hit them or call the police. I feel that beggars should not be encouraged by giving them alms, as this makes them think of earning the easier way and their are also those people who kidnap small children and cut of some part of their body and force them to beg. Hence I think NEVER give any alms to any begger

In London there are mildly aggressive "charity workers" who are really employed by profitmaking businesses -- they get your first year's contribution to the charity as payment for the solicitation. I ignore them. The homeless beggars are, by comparison, discreet and just sit there, summer and winter, sunshine and rain, with or without dog, and look plaintively.

In Switzerland where we also live, beggars are virtually unknown. I've never see a street solicitation.

I live in Tunisia, it's Ramadan at the moment, there's always lots of beggars this time of year. I never give money, always food, most people are happy with this. If they get aggressive with me wanting money, I tell them that God will provide, they normally get embarrassed at this and leave me alone.

Oh yes we do...and how!!! Especially at the traffic lights. I usually shake my head gently, at first. Then if they still insist, I tell them that my monster of a husband never gives me any money (crossing my fingers) with a drop of crocodile tear in my eyes......In the meantime, I just hope the lights will change to green!!!
