It wasn't on Saturday mornings, but one of my favorites was Voltron: Defender of the Universe (my favorite was Lion Voltron), circa 1981.
My other favorite 80's Saturday morning cartoon shows, in no particular order, were:
Fangface
Challenge of the Superfriends
Popeye
Fantastic Four
Plastic Man
Scooby and Scrappy-Doo
Super Globetrotters
Thundarr
Blackstar
Spider Man and Friends
Kid Super Power Hour with Shazam
Dungeons and Dragons
Alvin and the Chipmunks
Mr. T
Monchhichis (OMG, I was 17 and watching this in 1984!)
Mighty Orbots
Dragon's Lair
Kidd Video (Yeah, I actuallt watched this one)
Pole Position
Smurfs
Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians
Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling!
Disney's Adventures of the Gummy Bears
Punky Brewster (Boy did I need a life in 1985)
Had to cut back on the Saturday morning cartoons when I joined the USMC in Aug 1985.

X men and Spiderman. I was a Marvel girl even back then.
Just read some of the other answers. Thundercats was fantastic, never did like the Smurfs though (sorry).
There was also this cartoon about Racoons (I think it was called the Racoons) who lived in the forest and were enemies of a strange pink something called Cyril Sneer, wow haven't thought of that in years. That was 80s too right? Maybe early 90s. When was Dungeons and Dragon's? I liked that one too.

so many to choose from
HEMAN - Masters of the Universe, Sherra - Princess of Power
Thundercats, Transformers, Spiderman, Justice League
Scooby-doo.
You could totally kill a Saturday morning in front of the TV, eating your Cherrios or Trix cerial.
Personal favourite was Heman but Thundercats and Transformers (move out in the not to distant future) were cool too.
But lets go with the animation champ - Scooby-doo is still around, and has only South Park as any current competition for number of years on TV (we aren't talking content, just years in which people have been watching them).
Scooby-Doo will be there for when I have kids and that gives it some kind of special consideration, doesn't it.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe! (1983 version)
Excellent!
"Fabulous secret powers were revealed to me, the day I held aloft my magic sword and said,
By the Power of Greyskull ...
I...HAVE...THE...POWER!!!!!"
Didn't every little boy want a Battle-Cat of his very own, instead of a fat, sleepy Pusscat?
(Don't mention the inferior 1989 He-Man, or the even weaker 2002 Masters of the Universe in the same sentence as the 1983 original!)
