Laughing is a pressure relief valve for many of us. Life is full of frustration and when an amusing situation comes to our attention, laughing allows us a few moments of relief. We are happy that we did not experience the situation, and we do know what the person going through and how it feels. Many people need to get rid of frustration, and a good laugh is a nice way to do it. If you scream in a crowd to relieve your frustration, people may become frightened, but a person laughing is not a threatening act.

Laughter is the key to living a longer and healthier life. My instructor once told me that a fit of anger shatters the whole nervous system. This can be very damaging to spirit, soul, and body. In everything there has to be balancement. This is a law of nature.

Live, Love, Laugh

Fret not about the purpose of laughter, but be more concerned with why we get angry.

This is an awesome question! I have often pondered this because I have a humongous sense of humor and it seems to be hereditary since my kids & grandson have it, too! I think laughter is important, although I can't explain why.

Someone once coined the phrase "Laughter is the best medicine." I believe it. :)
