I had my son when I was 16 and had a horrible pregnancy and labor.. significant loss of blood and whatnot. My Dr. has told me there is a %50 chance I will not be able to conceive again. I'm now 21 and my husband (as of Aug.) wants two more of his own. I have told him it may be difficult to conceive but not exactly what the Dr had told me. I'm afraid that I cannot give him the children he wants, what should I do?

First of all, you should stop worrying about the 50% chance you won't conceive and think about the 50% chance that you can conceive. If you focus on the negative then that is exactly what will happen. If its God's will for you to have more children there is nothing doctor's to say the change that. My doctor tried to scare me because I have endometriosis and had an ovary removed. He tried to tell me that I had to go to an infertility doctor and all kinds of things. He put me on birth control for a year. However, once I got out the birth control my menstrual cycle came back to normal immediately and a normal menstrual cycle is a sign of fertility. I don't believe the doctor and I'm trying to conceive and I don't know about you but I know that I will have a baby for my husband. Just think positive.

Go get a complete check up, with a new doctor.
Find out what he/she thinks your chances are of conceiving, and then be honest with your husband.
With advances in today's medicine - you may have more options than you did 5 years ago.

I have a friend that had a similar situation. She had a baby a couple of years ago after 7 years. Get a check up and find out what options you have. Your old doc may have jumped the gun. See what the new doc says. And have fun trying.

what is the reason... medical reason that you were told 50/50 ?
from what you are discribing i can't see any reason for alarm... it sounds more like you have a difficult time with delivery and hemorage. if you are truly concerned you need to find out WHY the doctor told you that half a decade ago. if you are STILL concerned, see an endocrinologist to make sure everything is working properly.

Tell him EXACTLY what the doctor has told you so it is clear to him why it is u cant have a child...

if you just tell him that u cant have a child and give him no REASON, then he may take it as though you dont WANT to have a child with him and u trying to avoid having children with him!

Explain to him your situation...and i suggest you go TOGETHER to a doctor/gyney and discuss the pro's and con's

Don't worry about it, doctors are often wrong in this area. Even if 50% chance is true, that's still pretty good, especially since you are still very young. Just try not to worry about it.
