If it was rape, murder or if they set a fire then yes but if they robbed a bank and shared with me then no.

My parents did when my brother and friends broke into a private club. He's been in and out of prison for almost 40 years now. But they thought it was the right thing to do, wouldn't you?

We sure like to see those politicians turned in for crimes though don't we! When we are put into the the position of whether or not to turn somebody in, we hesitate, especially a relative. I'd like to know how many out there complains about how high the crime rate is and do they complain that we need stiffer sentences. Funny how it's different when it's a loved one committing the crime and other crimes can slide unless it's against children and rape.

Depending on how serious, if you do anything, including withholding this information could also constitute a crime.

My conscience would require that I do turn them in, though. I am thankful I have never been put in that position. The advantages of a very small family, I guess.

No you don't do that to your family unless it's a crime involving a child that's different everything is a void then. You may want to speak to him or her and have them hopefully contact a lawyer and get further assistant. You would not want anyone in your family to do that to you would you?? If they are not going to hurt further people than try to reason with the relative into turning him or herself in. Mum's the word, stay solid.

If it was truly serious and did harm or worse to others..then yes..
they need to know the consequences of their actions and that includes the damage to others associated to the victims...also it would be irresponsible of you not to report them...sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind...In other words, when someone you care about and love is doing harm to himself or others, the only way to stop them doing it and wake up to it..is to report them...
Good luck, I hope all turns out well for you and that you make the right decisions......

Tax evasion? Building a spud gun? Stole a car? Rape?

It depends on the crime and circumstances, for me.
... and the relative.

I turned my brother in for committing murder. No one saw him do it, he could have easily gotten away with it. The weapon was thrown into a lake they would have never found it. He told me what happened, I called the police, he confessed and is serving 15 to life. Do I reget it? No, cause that girl he killed could have been me or a family member. I feel sorry for her family not my brother.

If they were living under my roof? You have 2 choices. Turn yourself in or i will. I think if they were not living with me i would do my best to let them know its the right thing to do. Turn yourself in. If not the the other relatives that he or she is staying with can deal with it.
Take care.

unless they did something to me, my parents or offspring then I don't think i could snitch. also depends on the nature of the crime. its the something about the fact that "that's fam". i don't think i could be around that person anymore though, knowing what i know about them and then trying to perpetrate like everything is cool. no way!

If it was a violent crime, yes. If it was a corporate crime, probably not...the governement will catch up to him eventually.
