I am thinking of swapping my HP 500dv to a MacBook but I am not sure how Macs are? If you have used both a reg laptop and a mac? Windows and mac, which one do you prefer, why and what are the pros and cons?
Thank you so much in advance for answering this, I appreciate it :)

The Mac user interface is still the standard - even though back in the late 80s/90s Microsoft tried to copy it... The result was a very obtuse and klunky thing called "Windows".
I'm an advanced user who knows the way around both platforms...my Mac is on 24/7 - my PC sits cold and dusty most of the time. Try them side by side doing what you do on any normal day and let the experience decide for you!

Yes, with a Macintosh, you can have the best of both worlds. You can dual-boot any new Intel Mac with Windows XP. I have an Intel Mac Mini (and a G4) and I love it. I have Windows XP for playing Team Fortress Classic and Mac OS X "Tiger" for everything else, and I mean everything. It is true, there are very few known viruses for the Macintosh. It's not because of lack of users, like most PC fanboys would have you think, but due to it's strong UNIX underpinnings. Does your PC spellcheck as you type? Does it include a dictionary? Windows XP doesn't even support DVD playback out of the box. You have to purchase a third-party codec. Mac OS X supports tons of file formats, right out of the box. I was surprised the other day when someone sent me a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation and it opened in Keynote, perfectly. Every day I'm amazed at the things this computer can do. Now is definitely the time to switch to Mac. I switched two years ago. I don't see myself ever going back. :-) The MacBook is a great choice, too. I'm getting one soon, myself. In fact, I think the new Core 2 Duo MacBooks are coming out today. Happy happy joy joy! And yes, there is a ton of software for the Mac. Most of it is much better than it's PC counterparts. Check out the downloads section under the Mac OS X section of the Apple website. You'll find tons of software in there. You'll find a lot of free software, since open-source software is easily ported to Mac OS X, thanks to UNIX.

Linux is free, Windows is the most compatible and Mac (I think) has the best performance in graphic applications.
I have used my cousins Mac and I saw that not many games are compatible with it, but of course on the net you can find many apps specially made for Mac by companies and users.
You will not of course be able to use Microsoft Office on a Mac, but you could install OpenOffice, which is quite as good (and free!) plus many other applications similar to those you can find on Windows.
You can, instead of swapping your PC for a Mac, install Linux on a system which has already got Windows on it, and although I think it is quite an easy operation, some say it is problematic, and that you have to try installing it 2 or 3 times before it works.

Mac-PC's are soooooo easily messed with, spyware, etc. I have PC's at home, desk top and laptop and I have a Mac at work. Its just so much ... better. Hard to explain, get one, you'll love it.

I would perfer Windows as u would get support for it easily and it is cheap then Mac user friendly more then Mac. Mac is for the highly Professional people. Windows would be rough n tough and would get support and other necessities more easily for the Windows platform. So I prefer Windows.
That's all I say about Windows....
