Calcium hydroxide, correctly written Ca(OH)2 is often called lime. This is not the fruit but the stuff you put on lawns or in old out houses. It is not terribly soluble, but dissolved in water is called lime water. It can be used to detect carbon dioxide . If you blow bubbles through it, it ges cloudy, as the CO2 combines with the Ca to form a less soluble compound CaCO3 calcium carbonate and water.
