I am about 7 weeks, and everything is going well. Is it to early to start shopping?
Oh, and is it okay to relax my hair?

do not relax your hair. The chemicals could be bad for the baby.

As far as buying for the baby, I recommend either buying neutral things, and waiting until after you know what you or having, and after the baby shower. Believe me, you will spend so much money on this baby once it gets here, enjoy letting others buy for you.
As far as the old wives tales, don't go by those. If you want to go out and get things for your child, go for it!

It's okay to start buying for your baby even before you conceive! Have fun. You should consider buying gender neutral products until you know the gender. (Some of my wife's most enjoyable moments were shopping the 9 months before ours was born and even prior to conception!)

Please avoid all unnecessary chemicals including hair colors/dyes, perms, etc. Especially early in the cycle. Any chemicals that get absorbed in to the bloodstream, either through the skin, intestine, or lungs may cause issues with the baby. Looking good is not worth giving your child birth defects.

Enjoy!

You can start buying things whenever you want to! I personally wait until to start shopping until the 5th or 6th month. That way there, the first trimester jitters are over with. Anything can happen in pregnany....but at least towards the latter part of the second trimester, survival rates are decent if your body succombes to pre-mature labor.

Try to stay away from chemicals in hair dye, perms or relaxants. The chemicals can be harmful to baby.

Congratulations and Good Luck!

It's too early to start making major purchases, but go ahead and buy a baby outfit or two. And it's not ok to relax your hair. Stay away from chemicals of any kind while you're preganant. This is the one time in your life to be completely HEALTHY (take a multi-vitamin too!). Good luck and congrats!

I started to really buy things when I found out what I was having. At about 22 weeks. Then I got everything I needed for a little girl! :) As for the hair, I have no idea. I didnt do anything to my hair but cut it because I was scared of the fumes. Good Luck!

I would at least wait until the first trimester was over because your chance of miscarriage decreases and then I would wait until the last few months to buy the big stuff like a crib and such. But thats totally up to you when you want to shop I know that with my first it was like every time I went to a store I had to buy baby clothes. Good Luck.

Ask your doctor about the hair thing. As far as buying for your baby I would wait a few months. I know it is exciting (this must be your first) but you have plenty of time. Plus, if it is your first baby you will probably be thrown a baby shower. Good Luck!

If I were you I wouldn't take the chance of relaxing your hair as the chemicals could affect the baby.

I didn't buy anything for my son until a couple of months before he was born, but I guess it just depends if you're supersticious or not. If you want to play it safe, wait until at least 3 months.

Good luck & congrats! :)

I waited till about 12 weeks to buy little things, then around 5 months to buy the bigger things like pram, crib, carseat etc. I knew I was having a boy, so the little boys outfits I bought after 5 months too.
