I first heated the film with a heat gun( hair-dryer set on high might work) and then pulled off the top film starting at a corner. I then used ammonia in a spray bottle. I sprayed it on and let it soak for a minute and then used a razor blade scraper to finish getting glue off. The smell can be quite strong, so provide adequate ventilation or do job outside. This method worked extremely well for me. Good Luck!

I think a straight edge razor blade is the best idea. Just remember, it's glass and you aren't going to scratch it.
