in a conversation do you stutter as you try in a split second to find other words or euphemisms in the fear (perceived) of saying the politically incorrect thing or make things worse by making it so obvious you're digging an even bigger hole for yourself!

fibule200, love your answer but are you really saying spade and not cat?? sorry my french never got passed school stage but i'm sure i remember 'chat' was cat. You call a cat a cat, mais oui! :-)

No, fortunately, the "politically correct" stuff isn't still that strong in France for people to search desperately the "right" word in conversation. I certainly don't, like we say "J'appelle un chat, un chat" (I call a spade a spade).

I know just what you mean. It's truly unfortunate since at least here in the U.S. the whole concept of "Politically Correct" runs contrary to everything great about America.

I had a stutter when I was a child but as I got older it is less apparent.

I know! its horrible when that happens! You feel like an idiot, especially when the person you are talking to asks you to repeat whatever it was you said to them!

no I just say what I feel,not in a nasty way but I wont hide what I feel is right!
