Because they are NOT having to pay for their Degrees or classes themselves,
because (like your identifying name says) are drinking themselves into a stupor every night and NOT doing their classwork,
because they are DISRESPECTFUL in the extreme to NOT only the professor but also the students who ARE paying their own way through the school,
because they are ARROGANT slobs who would much rather play games than deal with ADULT consequences for ADULT events,
because they feel that they can LIVE OFF the earnings of others forever and NEVER take responsibility for their unacceptable behaviors,
and ...
because their egos are greater than their abilities or will or study habits or anything else they can do or think of.

There are very few universal truths about men and women. Here are two of them:
1. All women are crazy
2. All men are stupid.
If these "lads" seem like total idiots, it is mostly because they are men (and therefore stupid) and partly because you are a woman (and therefore crazy).

In a US context, boys and men are socialized to relate and interact in limited ways that can be interpreted as immature. In group settings where they are able to congregate with one another the socialization of immaturity is magnified. Perhaps a congregation of men should be limited to a once a year "mancation" to a remote island in the Pacific.

They are trying to impress all you ladies and acting the fool makes them think you may just find it attractive but put it this way hey it is working you HAVE noticed them and that is what they want!
New environment, new people, stamping their mark, getting noticed, attention seeking and just plain lads!

Give 'em a chance, we all know the female sex is two years mentally maturer than the lads. They will eventually grow up

Sixmilliondollraguy, what you neglect to mention is that those under 25 year olds who are stupid tend to grow up to be stupid adults as well- some of them hide it under a veneer of 'respectability' and, amazingly, go on to well paid jobs above the better qualified.

Most males under 25 usually are, and would probably rather spend the weekend with each other (rather than a female), talking about "manly things", like football, cars, gangsta rap and stabbings.
