Man, and I thought I was the only one in world that identified with Wolverine.
He is Canadian, so am I (so much for the comparing).
Lets forget the claws, the mutant healing factor, the Primal Rage.
He is character is one based on honour and doing what is right regardless of the cost. Loyalty to his friends and sense of duty to all around him.
Stripped of his past, the mistakes are erased, and he invents himself a new. He isn't the Weapon X anymore, he is Logan, and has claimed his right to be in the world.
His past, though important and interesting, isn't the thing that makes him a man, its the decisions made since leaving his fragmented past.
He makes mistakes, he makes choices that are wrong, but he is only human.
the claws, weapons to protect and attack - my fists, my words, my thoughts are mine..
The healing factor, some thing that sustains him when he is hurt, but it doesn't take away the pain of emotions, and isn't that was we are all really dealing with.
He is the blue collar hero, no frills no fancy talk, what you see is what you get. He is the symbol of the redemption of man from the beast within, and that second chances are there if you want to sincerely take them.

Wolverine. And yes I do identify with the character on several levels, mostly the consistant internal struggle between his true nature, and the facade he has to present to navigate his way through everyday life.

Jean Grey:
She has so many emotional problems and if it gets in her way...yeah, bad news. She also had to grow up sooner then her classmates (of the first five X-Men) because of her limitless powers with the Phoenix. She had to learn to get a grip.
Plus, she's a red-head too!

Wolverine because it seems he's always struggling with the animal within. Even when he seems in control of it something comes along and he tears it apart. I have a really bad temper so I can kinda relate.

I'd have to say that I coundn't chose between Rogue and Wolverine, mainly because I am a saucy little chick who will kick a** and take names later, if I can remember. And, I don't take orders well.
