Approximately 2800 at the World Trade Center in New York City (including those who died on the two airliners). . .then there were those at the Pentagon and on that aircraft & the 80-90 souls on the airplane that crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Those were the direct casualties from that day. Then we need to add the children, spouses, partners, family, friends who lost a significant portion of their lives that day when their loved ones did not return home.

I believe around 3000 that day, but consider the soldiers lost also due to Bush's unjust war on Iraq, supposedly because of 9/11. The number quickly doubles. If the President's duties still included leading our soldiers to war I do not think he would have been so willing to invade for superficial reasons.

Does it really matter. That day changed us forever. Words can't describe what those people went thru. God rest their souls. In some since the terrorists got what they wanted. they caused major loss of life and distruction, I give them that, but they also brought America closer together. I just hope we stay that way, and never forget what happened that day. I know everyone says they will never forget, but look at how we treat our vets. Have you ever been in a military veterans hospital? God be with all victims of terrorism and senseless violence.
