Most people refer to it as the "information age" and yes, computers would be considered a (very large) part of this age. Info, data, recordings, etc are all helping us get to the bottom of science with as much accuracy as possible.
This is just the beginning too... I can guarantee you that a decade from now computers will be a whole lot gnarlier than they are now and in ways that you wouldn't have thought. It's a great time to be alive, that's for sure.
