Why are oils like Eucalyptus or balms like Vicks addiction to some people ?
Mostly thing with menthol ... fresh mint sort of smell...why are some people addicted to this ? is it bad ?

It has an addictive flavour
They do good for colds and headaches but addiction to Eucalyptus based products, let it be inhalers, balms ......

This does not seem to be a chemical or drug addiction, but rather a psychological one.
Both camphor and menthol have been studied from the mid-1930's and both have been cleared of drug dependent status.

My grandmother was really fond of menthol cough drops because she was a menthol cigarette smoker. Did this hurt her? I feel it wasn't the menthol that harmed her but the cigarette.
