Possible arthritic conditions in the knees as well as weak core muscles. How long and how often does the person need to do yoga therapy before the benefits will be visible. Also, is it necessary or alright to continue to consume health supplements or medicines.

Yoga is excellent in releasing and stretching tight muscles all over the body, including your legs. If you have knee problems, there are various yoga poses that help strengthen the quadriceps in order to support knee mobility. And yes, yoga will also strengthen your abdomen and your back.

Many experience the benefits almost immediately. However depending on the frequency of your yoga therapy, results may take weeks or months if you are inconsistent.

Make sure that you take yoga therapy from a qualified instructor/ therapist. Ask if they have worked with other students with conditions similar to yours.

Consuming health supplements and medicine is fine if you plan to do yoga. For arthritic joints (knees, wrists, elbows, etc), I suggest taking flaxseed oil everyday for healthy joint mobility. It also acts as an anti-inflammatory.

Visible benefits show up different for each individual, the need for continued health medicines are stickily up to your doctor, but I would recommend health supplements always. Yoga is known to help many arthritic people, so continue until you are satisfied.
