to hate Bush?
There is evidence that US funds Chavez opposition groups through the USAID. There is also evidence the US either sponsored a coup, or knew of a planned coup against Chavez and kept quiet.

Carla: How is it unpatriotic to figure out Chavez' motivations? And if YOU care for US troops, isn't it better to topple Chavez by covert means? Or would you prefer to send in the military?

I'm sure that, if the tables were turned, and agents from the Venezuelan government tried to overthrow the Bush regime, Bush would have some pretty strong words for Chavez, too.

I am not so sure Chavez IS rational! He seems a bit out of touch with reality. Of course, he is riding the wave of anit-American sentiment that has developed over our aggressive foreign policy. The Bush Administration has created a VERY dangerous situation for us with many of these countries. For places like Venezuela, the only way they will compete with us militarily is through terrorism (or by sending more drugs this way to addict more people..).
I also believe, in bipartisan politics, whatever "side" is in power will blame the other side for all the problems they created. Notice, the Republicans have clear majorities (until november) in both the House and Senate and they have the President. Also notice that everything that goes wrong is pushed off on Democrats and their "unwillingness" to play nice and give the Republicans what they want....

Chavez is a Fidelista, which means he's a Pro-Cuban communist, and he's been preaching his anti-American propaganda before Bush was ever elected. The so-called "evidence" of US involvement in the 2002 coup is FAKE because if it were real, Chavez's regime would've been overthrown back then. In fact the people of Venezuela rejected the coup as much as they rejected Chavez, BECAUSE the military took over. That's why it failed.

There is nothing about Chavez that is rational. Anybody with the brains that god gave a goat should be able to see that what Chavez is doing to Venezuela is likely to be as useful to that country as Castro has been to Cuba. Venezuela, notwithstanding its oil, is headed toward being the poorest country in the western hemisphere -- exceeded only by Cuba.

Let Venezuela try communism if they wish and stop the assassination talk by idiots like Pat Robberson and we'd have a much more peaceful world.

This coming from a guy that ragged on Clinton for his entire 8 successful years in office. I wouldn't take much or anything that Rush Limbaugh says as very credible for this reason.
