My family always has pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving. Although I believe any time to eat pumpkin pie is acceptable. I know many families who have this pie at both major holiday reunions. But I believe that the pie probably was eaten at Thanksgiving first because that time of the year is when the pumpkins are ready to be picked. I hope that helped you out

I don't think you need to only eat on a holiday unless you are using fresh pumpkins, but it is a big favorite for Thanksgiving but we also have at Christmas too.

Thanksgiving....although the pilgrims reportedly did not eat pumpkin originally because it was "poisonous".....a bit of historical irony.
