People reply with silly answers because they can't think of anything intelligent to say and are just after the points.
They also think that people will find their answers witty and will give them a good rating, therefore increasing their ego's but don't realise that they are being voted for by equally pathetic people.

They think they are being clever, they also seem to think the more points they get the more prizes they are going to win but it dosn't work quite like that. You have to have the winning answer in a chosen category that Yahoo selects. The chances of you winning anything on here is next to nothing as there are SOOOO many people on here, I only try to answer questions that I can hopefully help someone out on and sometimes pose a question i'm really curious on etc, I do it for the fun, not the points, thats just SILLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They do it for points. People who answer silly questions do so because they dont know the answer.

Wouldn't the world be a boring place without people being silly, humurous.
Its not silly answers that bug me but downright spiteful answers.

In the following order of occurance:
1) Some people are A**holes.
2) An answer gets you two-points.
3) The more ignorant a person is, the louder they tend to yell, and the longer the yelling tends to be.

Written English lacks some of the features of the Spoken form. We are taught in English lesson, that sometimes "less" is "more". The ability to communicate via the written form is an art. Humour is one way. Do not be dissapointed if not all of us live up to your expectations. There is wisdom in diversity - that includes diversity of opinion!

They are called smart-aleks, or smart-asses in USA. They do present a very good argument for an editor on Questions/Answers to weed out these time-wasters- Alternatively, ignore them!
