what you learnt that day, will be kept in sort term memory, you have to reinforce it, after school, read over the material again, this will reinforce what you have learnt.

try this for a test, remember a name from a phone book, after an hour, you will have difficulty, but if you go back and and reinforce it, after a few times you will remember it.

Also you brain works in 20 min intervals, study 20 minutes 5 to 10 min break, ( do not watch TV, TV is brain intensive, so is studying, do something else, listen to music, talk a short walk, make a drink, call someone) then go back to studying, and do it again, it's like learning a new word to spell, you have to say it over and over again, each time it gets reinforced in your brain, eventually you remember it, or like playing a musical instrument, at first the fingering is difficult but after practise a number of time you begin to remember the fingering.

First of all, disconnect the TV, remove the Cable, disconnect the Internet, Disconnect the Video Gaming Systems, put away the Nintendo DS, whatever entertainment you have (that includes MP3 Players and other toys) -- and ...

Then START cracking open the books and READ the assignments, put the assignments in a Planner, break it down to steps to do each day, and DO The assignments AHEAD of schedule.

MOOD has nothing to do with Studying or doing assignments. It is procrastination and laziness that causes one to NOT study.

So what that you can't go anywhere else on the weekends -- that is what being a College Student means -- NO MONEY for entertainment (because YOU are paying for your education), YOU have a job to do (YOUR education), and YOU need to apply yourself SERIOUSLY to your JOB (Education) at this time.

Part of learning is learning how to learn. The desire you have for grades needs to be evidenced in your study habits.
1) Regardless of television, friends, wants and desires.... pick a specific time each night to study. Or a time in the day when you are between classes, and Do It.
2) Different classes take different methods of study. Working the problems in the back of a technical subject may be good for math, science, etceteras but outlining classes, taking incredible notes may be required for history.
3) Classes in college require effort, not just staying awake in the schoolroom. This is the real lesson of life. A college graduate realized this at some point in school and applies it later.
4) Try to be lucky. Studying dates when essay questions ask "why?" may not help. Studying "why" may not help if dates are the type of question. Make your efforts for the range of the subject and luck won't play that big a part.

After all is said, good luck to you anyway.

Just sit yourself down and study. I cant concentrate for long periods so i study for an hour and take a 30 mins break. But in your breaks don't watch TV,rather play guitar, or sleep or do something relaxing. You don't want to lose that info!

what you could do is attend your classes, as usual and grab a highlighter and highlight those words..you not understand and at the end ask the teacher and most of all take note in lectures classes, and make sure your up to date with your reading.
and bring along some of those sticky note from Newsagency, it helps you bookmark the pages you would like more information or to re read and ask teacher for help. the best thing i did was put those sticky note into my books and later i re read it and write down what i learnt from it and ask teacher next day and also jus ask the questions in exams, test, prac would ask..
good luck!

Mood shouldnt be the issue here. Its willpower.
Im not in the mood to cook, clean house, go to work etc..
But I have to.
Same with you. You have to study. put on some music You like and study away. just know the sooner you study, the sooner you can be done and go out and have fun.
Good luck

drink alot of milk and get enough sleep avoid watching tv or playstation and the sort, that will put your concentration at low level. Dont eat too much when studying or prior to that. more tip, try to study early so that you can sleep early.
