Yes there are production engines that will run on Petro and/or CNG or LPG. Very few can run multi-fuel with Diesel because of the compression ration required but I have heard some engines in WWII by the Germans could run Petrol/Diesel with a few lever flips.

You should search for running on LPG,CNG or Tri fuel there is plenty of information out there on the web, you can even find company's that will advice you on the best conversion kit needed for your engine.Today there many cars buses and lorries running on LPG or CNG.So get searching to find the best for your needs,Calor website is a good place to stat, i found many when looking to convert petrol engines on generators to Propane LPG.As of diesel you can run this on LPG but its not simple as the compression on petrol is much lower than a diesel engine and you need a spark, yes its possible but you need to run a 20/80 ratio mix, this was done back in the early thirty's on large generators in the United States.
